|Imarat Shariah have been Constructed 50 RCC houses for Gujarat Riots victims
As the news of communal rioting in Gujarat flashed, a team of Imarat-e-Shariah headed by its general secretary(Nazim )Maulana Anisur Rahman Quasmi left for Ahmadabad to assess the situation and to make all efforts to bring peace in the disturbed areas, It was a well organized orgy of violence with a view to cripple Muslims, economically. During the height of arson, loot and murder, the team of Imarat Shariah reached Ahmadabad on the 12the March. Its foremost task was to establish contacts and initiate efforts to bring back peace in the disturbed areas. It sent fax messages to the President, the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, leader of opposition, Sonia Gandhi and Samajwadi leader Mulayam Singh Yadav to intervene and demanded stern action against the rioters and deployment of army to control riots. It requested Muslim M.Ps and other Muslim leaders to come to Gujrat to create confidence amongst the affected people. The team of Imarat Shariah met leaders of different communities and appealed them to take steps to maintain peace.
The people affected by the unprecedented violence were so much frightened that they were not even ready to file FIR against the culprits. The team of Imarat Shariah went to different refugee camps, convinced those affected to file FIR and also met Muslim advocates to help in filing FIRs.
Imarat Shariah provided interim relief to the affected people in Ahmadabad, Anand, Surat, Vadodra and Mehsana, the details of which are as follows:
Imarat Shariah Relief Mission:
(a) Continued curfew had adversely affected the labour class who had nothing to sustain. It distributed three thousand kgs of Ata, Rice, Dal cooking oil, Blankets etc amongst them and ; those taking refuge in the refugee camps.
(b) Patients in the hospitals and camps were supplied medicines and fruits. They were also given help in cash also.
(c) Widows and the next of those killed were given financial help ranging between rupees five hundred to five thousand in cash.
(d) In Ahmadabad, Surat, Anand and Khera, those who wanted to go back their houses were provided kitchen utensils and other necessary items. One thousand such families were provided relief.
(e) Labour class was the most affected in these riots. They were deprived of their Thelas. Imarat Shariah provided Eleven lakh three thousand five hundred to two thousand three hundred fifteen such persons in cash. Besides this, three hundred twenty lones, ten pedal rickshaw, five camel lorries were also provided.
(f) Imarat Shariah arranged marriage of four hundred twenty couples in the refugee camps and provided them with MEHR amounts and other related necessities.
Imarat Shariah , besides the above mentioned relief works gave utmost importance to rehabilitation of those uprooted in the riots.
Repair and construction of Mosques and Madarsas:
During the communal holocaust in Gujarat, a very large number of mosques, Madarsas and Mazars were demolished or raised to the ground by the Hindu fanatics. In these riots 265 mosques were demolished, and in some cases, no trace was left. Despite financial limitations, Imarat Shariah tool up the work of demolished mosques, details of which are as follows:
(1) Jama Masjid, Idgah Gate
Work of the above mentioned Mosques and Madarsas are complete.
(2) Noorani Masjid, Ansar Nagar Ahmadabad
(3) Mosque of Biarwa, district Anand
(4) Madarsa Qasimul ulum, Ansar Nagar, Ahmadabad
(5) Sabarmati ki Masjid and
(6) Kanapur ki Masjid.
Construction & Repair of Shop & Houses:
The Relief Mission has already completed its work on 384 shops and houses and handed them to their owners. The break up figures are given below:
Construction of 50 RCC houses:
- Ahmadabad:20 shops
- Naroda Road:25 shops
- Kanapur, Ahmadabad:22 houses
- Bairwa Khera:50 shops
- Gomtipur:30 houses
- Kothamba (Godhra) 17 shops
- Rajabari Taaluka, Bharoach: 2000 houses
Muslims of a number of villages are completely uprooted and they do not want to go back to their villages fearing further attack,. Imarat Shariah has purchased a land worth 9 lakhs in Serkhez. Ahmadabad and contruction work on fifty RCC houses are going on in full swing Each houses will be of 35' x 12' size with one living room veranda,kitchen, bath-room and a latrine. Each houses will cost fifty thousand rupees and the total cost of the project will come to 25 lakhs of rupees.
With its limited resources, Imarat Shariah has taken up the gigantic task of providing relief and rehabilitation of the unfortunate Muslims of the state of Gujarat who have lost everything in the communal inferno. So far 51 lakh 30 thousand and 500 rupees have already been spent.
